The difference between plum blossom coupling and star coupling

Plum Coupling and Star Coupling are two types of couplings that have similar appearances but differ in certain aspects. The Plum Coupling is commonly known as ML type or MLL-Ⅱ type with a brake wheel, while the Star Coupling is commonly known as XL type or XLD type (XLD type has a larger bore diameter compared to XL type, allowing it to withstand higher torque).
The main differences between these two couplings are as follows:

1. Model: The couplings have different model numbers, such as ML or MLL-Ⅱ for Plum Coupling, and XL or XLD for Star Coupling.

2. Elastic elements: The Plum Coupling uses a plum-shaped elastic pad with the model number MT1-13, while the Star Coupling uses a star-shaped elastic pad with the model number GR10-GR180.

3. Shape: The Plum Coupling typically has three claws (branches) in the middle, while the Star Coupling usually has four claws. The number of claws affects the torque capacity.

4. Elastic pad profile: The side profile of the elastic pad in a Star Coupling is flat, while it is curved in a Plum Coupling. This can be used to differentiate between the two couplings visually.

These differences make the Star Coupling capable of withstanding higher torque compared to the Plum Coupling. It is important to correctly identify and select the appropriate coupling for your specific application.
